Proger Receives AB AQUA’s National “Water and Innovation” Award

Proger has received the 2026 National Water Award in the “Water and Innovation” category for “the contribution to the development of innovative solutions for the sustainable management of water resources, through an approach integrating engineering, strategic planning, digitalization and environmental sustainability”.

The first edition of the award, organized by AB AQUA, an Italian hydro-strategy think tank, took place on Friday, June 5, in the Sala degli Specchi of the Accademia dei Rozzi in Siena. At the conclusion of the event, dedicated to the geopolitical, environmental and socio-economic dynamics of water resources, the award was collected by Marco Sandrucci, Head of Environmental and Geology Department at Proger.

Following a comparative analysis of organizations active in the sector, AB AQUA identified Proger as an example of efficiency and innovation in the management of this resource, with motivations spanning three areas. The first concerns Proger’s commitment to promoting models focused on efficiency, resource reuse and territorial resilience in the face of climate change, an area that includes the water sustainability territorial project developed by the company. The second is Proger’s research and outreach activity, recognized in particular through the publications “Water Economy in Italy” and “Water Intelligence”, dedicated to the future of water resources. The third highlights the international dimension of Proger’s commitment, demonstrated by initiatives such as AWARE, an off-grid hydro-energy sustainability project for rural villages in Africa, bringing Italian expertise and know-how to the design of sustainable solutions in the most vulnerable territories.

“This award recognizes a path that Proger has built over the years on the theme of water, spanning infrastructure design, research and a focus on water security as a driver of economic, environmental and social development,” said Marco Sandrucci.
