Rome Waste-to-Energy Plant

Description

A critical infrastructure project within Rome’s Waste Management Plan, designed to process 600,000 tonnes per year of residual and non-recyclable waste, and built to eliminate the city’s dependence on landfills once and for all. Proger’s team provides project management office, construction management, BIM support, back-office and construction-phase safety coordination services, bringing a well-rounded mix of multidisciplinary expertise to address the project’s inherent complexity.

Integrated into the landscape within the “Circular Economy Park” and operating at minimal emission levels, the plant will generate 65 MW of thermal and electrical energy — sufficient to power 200,000 households — and will also be equipped with auxiliary facilities for bottom ash recovery, a photovoltaic system, a district heating network and an experimental CO2 capture system.
