REQUALIFICATION OF A BNL PROPERTY
IN THE "EUR" DISTRICT

Proger has been awarded with the preliminary design
for the requalification of an important modern building in Rome

Our company has been entrusted with the preliminary design for the requalification of a BNL – BNP Paribas property, sited in Piazzale dell’Agricoltura in Rome.

The building is located at the entrance of the EUR district and, together with its twin building, located symmetrically on the opposite side of via Cristoforo Colombo, it could be considered as an entry gate.

Both buildings were commissioned by Società Generale Immobiliare to be used as headquarters for Esso and SGI and were built in early 60's, on the basis of the architectural design by Luigi Moretti and Vittorio Ballio Morpurgo. The building – still unchanged since its construction – is about 30 meter high and it has 7 floors above ground and 2 undergrounds levels, for a total surface of about 35,000 sq.mt.

The facade of the building

The development of the preliminary design aims at the general renovation of the structural and system components of the building, its full compliance with norms, the determination of the crowding index of about 1.800 people, the compliance with the request of sectioning it in two lots to be allocated to several tenants and the definition of the interventions necessary for the energy certification (from D to B).

This work”, states the architect Paul Blackmorerepresents a great opportunity for our company and BNL, our historical client, to redevelop a symbolic example of post-war modern architecture. The development of the preliminary design will be an important step to emphasize and give life to the building by Moretti and Morpurgo, that, together with its twin building, is a significant part of the development of the Eur district and of the whole city of Rome”.
