As Proger Egypt’s work at the impressive site of Petrobel’s new headquarters in Cairo continues on schedule, an important milestone was reached in August: 1.5 million safe work hours without a lost-time accident in more than 600 days of activity. To celebrate this achievement, Proger organized an event on site attended by the workers involved in the project and representatives of Eni, Enppi and Petrobel, from whom the company received a plaque of recognition.
“We are proud to receive this recognition, which certifies not only compliance with safety regulations, but above all the existence of a safety culture at Proger, a sense of collective responsibility and respect for the protection of workers’ health that generates a deep awareness that every site, in every corner of the world, is an integral part of our way of working, even beyond individual legal profiles”, commented Marco Lombardi, CEO of Proger, emphasizing the company’s “unwavering commitment to safety and excellence”.
The new headquarters of Petrobel, a company jointly owned by ENI and EGPC (Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation), represents a $160 million real estate initiative in which Proger acts as entrepreneur and general contractor. The 63,000-square-meter office complex will be completed next summer and will provide modern and sustainable Leed Gold-certified offices for the employees of the largest oil and gas operator in the Mediterranean.
“The 1.5 million safe man-hours achieved at this site not only marks a significant milestone, but also sets a new standard for safety and operational excellence in the MENA region,” concluded Lombardi. “Proger remains committed to exporting its core values of safety and sustainability to all of its construction sites around the world, ensuring that every project is executed with the same level of commitment and expertise”.
