Proger is the leader of the JV of engineering companies in charge of the executive design of the modifications to the railway infrastructure required for the construction of the Catania-Fontanarossa airport runway extension. The main intervention is the undergrounding of the double-track railway section through an artificial tunnel and trenches over a length of 3 km. In addition, the Fontanarossa station will be adapted to the future functional operating model of the Palermo-Catania line, which is being renovated.
Some of the most important solutions proposed by Proger’s team include the efficiency and simplification of the site in terms of hydraulic interference of the water table with the underground works, and the reduction of water consumption by 3.4 million m3 of water, equivalent to 1,360 olympic pools.
