Energy efficiency for Wegh industrial group

A lighter carbon footprint of 300 tonnes of CO2 per year thanks to the first planned action

Proger continues to expand its range of services in the field of Green Energy and sustainability with a turnkey energy efficiency program for Wegh Group, an Italian excellence in the railway industry.

On the strength of its extensive experience in process engineering and after numerous energy upgrades of residential buildings, Proger was chosen by Wegh Group to make its plants more efficient through a complete range of services: permitting, design, procurement and execution of works.

The first solution developed by Proger’s Green Energy Business Unit involves the installation of a photovoltaic system with a nominal power of 500 kWp, capable of covering 45.8 % of the energy needs of the Calcinale plant, in the province of Bergamo, which produces 180 concrete sleepers per hour. The efficiency intervention will significantly reduce the withdrawal of electricity from the grid, in favour of self-production from photovoltaics, guaranteeing a reduction in the ‘carbon footprint’ of 303.5 tons of CO2 per year.
