Proger strengthens its position in the engineering and infrastructure monitoring sector by securing the leadership of a new three-year assignment for the surveillance of the Mont Blanc Tunnel. The agreement, valid for 36 months, represents the continuation of activities initiated in 2021 and involves a high-profile international consortium composed of Italian and French companies: SINA, Bureau Veritas Nexta, Lombardi Ingénierie and IMP.
Since its inauguration in 1965, the Mont Blanc Tunnel has been a vital passageway through the Alps, facilitating economic exchange and cross-border travel. The project involves comprehensive monitoring of the 11.6-kilometer, two-way tunnel. The objective is to ensure operational continuity and the safety of one of the main connecting arteries between Italy and France, minimizing disruptions for the approximately 1.5 million vehicles that cross it every year.
The monitoring program includes quarterly visual inspections, semi-annual vault checks, and annual controls both inside the tunnel and in the external access areas. These are complemented by continuous investigation and technical survey activities.
“This assignment represents an important confirmation for Proger and the entire team, which has already demonstrated its reliability over the previous three years,” declares Valerio Lombardi, Director of Proger’s Civil Engineering Business Unit. “Our task is to guarantee the highest level of safety for one of Europe’s most significant infrastructures“.
